About Your Hosts We came
to Alaska as a family in 1993 after decades of traveling and living
all over the world with Fred’s military career. Captured by Alaska’s
beauty, we settled in Wasilla and opened Shady Acres B&B in the
summer of 1995 after the youngest of our four children graduated
from high school. We enjoy meeting people from around the world and
sharing our home and the spectacular Mat-Su Valley with our guests
year round.
While Fred remains in the military, stationed at Ft. Richardson in
Anchorage. Marie is an artist and teacher in addition to her duties
as hostess of Shady Acres. Her watercolors, drawings and engravings
of flowers and Alaskan scenery decorate the B&B.
